We would like to acknowledge the Dja Dja Wurrung, Taungurung and Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people, who are the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which this School stands. We would also like to pay respect to Elders past, present and emerging of the Kulin Nation and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

We believe children are capable, curious, full of wonder, rich in knowledge, able to construct and co-construct his or her own learning. Traditionally schools were developed to respond to the workplace, the teacher’s role was to pass on knowledge and students would reproduce it. However, in the world today, yesterday’s answers offer limited solutions. Our projects open worlds to the unanswered and the problems that need redesigning. It’s exciting, joy-filled and enhances passion and love for learning.

At St Gabriel’s and St Stephen’s we recognise the importance of wellbeing and the impact on student learning and sense of happiness. Every aspect of school life aims to enhance student wellbeing and contributing to the full flourishing of each child in all aspects of their development. We have developed a beginning of the day which is based upon Berry St Educational practices, each morning we ‘get ready to learn’.

St Gabriel's & St Stephen's

Parents/guardians/carers are the first educators of their children. By enrolling a child in St Stephen’s & St Gabriel’s, parents/guardians/carers are entering into a partnership to promote and support their child’s education, in particular their education in faith.

While the school promotes access to a Catholic education through the school enrolment policy, it is the parent/guardian/carers’ responsibility to support the school in furthering the spiritual and academic life of their child.
