Welcome

St Gabriel's Catholic Primary School is a diverse and vibrant school community. We continue to provide education influenced and supported by the Victorian Curriculum. We ensure all areas of the curriculum are designed with a concept-based approach and ‘drenched’ in our ‘place’ of being – Reservoir.

Our Vision

Our school vision, brought to life through a collaborative approach with our staff, children and families, represents a community-focused approach to education, emphasizing the importance of safety, relationships, and connection. We know that through collaboration we can nurture all children and foster their growth.

Key elements include:
Knowing & Listening emphasizes the importance of creating space for and listening to children, fostering trust and acknowledging that everyone is a learner.
Diversity and Connection showcases the value of diverse perspectives and the importance of building connections within the community.
Target Teaching focuses on data informed educational approaches to meet learners needs.
Voice, Faith, and Story encourages the expression of personal stories and beliefs, promoting a culture of acceptance, honesty and bravery.
Collaboration & Teamwork highlights the significance of working together to achieve common goals, supported by values like courage, kindness, and honour.
Growth and Change represents the dynamic nature of learning, with symbols like a sprouting plant and arrows indicating progress and transformation.
Fun & Joy reminds educators to incorporate elements of happiness and enjoyment into the learning process.

Overall,  this image serves as a reminder of the holistic approach needed in education, where fostering a supportive, diverse, and collaborative environment is key to student success and wellbeing.

My name is Laura Merrick and I am proud to be the Principal of St Gabriel’s.  I am honoured to lead such a passionate and dedicated team of educators in this vibrant community of learners. At St Gabriel’s, we believe that education is a shared journey. We honour parents as the primary educators of your children, and we see our role as partners—working alongside you to nurture and grow your child’s spiritual, academic, and emotional wellbeing.

At St Gabriel’s, we believe that learning should be fun and joyful with moments of genuine wonder. Teaching and learning is designed to spark a genuine sense of curiosity that transforms learning from a task into a lifelong passion. By fostering this curiosity early on, we empower our children to see themselves as capable, confident learners. We strive to inspire active, energised learners who don’t just observe the world, but engage with it—driven by passion and guided by purpose.

We have a genuine, strong, inclusive spirit that binds us together. At St Gabriel’s, our rich and diverse community is our strength and connection is our priority. When you become a part of our school community, we hope you feel welcomed into a space defined by warmth, equity, and a genuine sense of belonging.
