At St.Gabriel’s we recognise that all children are capable and competent individuals. We acknowledge that children bring a wealth of knowledge, talents and potential with them to school. Our educators seek to build strong connections with our children, so that their talents and potential are recognised and nurtured.

Our educators engage in rich, ongoing professional conversations about targeting the learning needs of our children. We respond to children’s needs through evidence-informed practices that ensure that all children experience success and growth in their learning.

How we grow

At all times, our whole group learning is designed by a team of qualified educators within the school supported by leaders in curriculum areas. All learning and teaching is designed and driven by data.

We pride ourselves on making learning visible. Learning intentions are displayed in ‘learner friendly’ language to help our learners know how am I going?, where am I going? and where to next? By making learning and progress visible we empower our learners. Our spaces are designed intentionally and purposefully. We believe in creating a welcoming and versatile space. Curriculum and Learning spaces are connected therefore we need a variety of spaces to cater to the differences in our curriculum.

We learn through collaborating, research, problem solving, negotiating, making meaning, being creative, and. We are ensuring we are not only ticking boxes as we believe in uncovering, creating and making the impossible possible. We focus on developing learners’ capacity to thrive in tricky situations – knowing what to do when they don’t know what to do – is valued highly.
