Religious Education
All children participate in Religious Education lessons weekly through which they come to know the scriptures, especially the Gospels, and learn about the traditions, history and Sacramental life of the Catholic Church. Our Religious Education program is designed to foster both spiritual growth and critical inquiry. Our curriculum planning is grounded in Scripture and the principles of Catholic Social Teaching (CST), providing children with the opportunity to develop their moral and ethical compass through their learning. To ensure that religious education is both relatable and relevant, we intentionally explore contentious, contemporary issues across all year levels. This approach allows children to contextualize their faith within the complexities of the modern world, encouraging them to become informed, compassionate, and active global citizens.
We begin each day by gathering together in prayer, a central practice that centers our community and invites connection to faith and reflection before our daily work begins. Throughout the year, we celebrate our shared journey through school-based liturgies for significant events in the liturgical calendar and participate in Parish Masses to support our children reaching their Sacramental milestones.
All faith-based planning is a facilitated, collaborative process. This structured support ensures consistency across the curriculum, provides access to specialized resources, and fosters a collaborative environment where staff are supported in their roles as faith leaders within the classroom.
Children can participate in the Catholic Sacramental program in the following years:
Year 3: First Reconciliation
Year 4 First Holy Communion
Year 6: Confirmation
